I had my first reiki session last week. I went to a woman that two of my friends knew and had reiki sessions with. I have to say that my experience was vastly less impressive than either of theirs. I knew a little bit about reiki before I went in, but I still didn’t really know what to expect.

The woman had me lay on a massage table covered with cushions. She asked me some questions about myself and told me some things about what she perceived about me. A few of the things were accurate and a lot of them weren’t. She had some ideas for how I should deal with what she perceived were my problems, including one involving a stone. I have a ritual involving a stone you carry in your pocket that was similar and so I told her I was Wiccan and had something similar to that already. She insisted I use the technique she had described (even though mine accomplished the same thing and would have been more impacting since it was personal to me) and then later made some comment about me being Wiccan. I honestly cannot remember exactly what she said other than it turned me off from her immediately. Whatever it was that she said was borderline rude and condescending, at least that’s how I felt about it.

She also kept saying that she and I had a connection and we had established a relationship. I have no idea what she was talking about. Other than the slight tingle of energy at my feet when she first started I never felt any energy manipulation after that. She told me I’d be tired afterwards and that I should drink lots of water. I went and did my grocery shopping afterward. I wasn’t tired at all. I don’t doubt that my friends had real experiences with her, but I definitely did not and have no plans to ever go back.

I’m curious if any of you have ever had a reiki session. What was it like for you?

I had to reblog this. Share this info all over the place! Anyone who has ever owned pets knows that it can be expensive. It’s nice to know of a few places that are willing to help out.

I was going to write my own article on this and I still may, but I happened to come across this video on the youtubes while I was listening to music. She goes off on a tangent once or twice, but I think she has some really good advice in her video. She also talks a little bit about how to find a mentor or other pagan people in your area. I think it’s worth a watch.
