After looking around in the online world for Pagan blogs, I decided to try my hand at my own. I’ve always wanted an outlet for Pagan fun. Don’t get me wrong, I’m an ‘out’ and proud Wiccan (and yes, I know Pagan and Wiccan are not interchangeable, I’m getting to that), but I can’t really talk to everyone I know about it. That causes the slightly glassy-eyed expression and total silence of awkward conversation, especially if I mention ‘Goddess’ at all. Most of the people in my life are happy to know that my pentacle isn’t a satanic worshiping symbol and that’s all they need, which is fine. None of the people in my life (family or friends) have been discriminative about my religious beliefs. This is why they’re still in my life. Even so, I still can’t have a conversation with most of them about how much I love the Black Locust trees in my yard or how my Willow brings me delight every day just by being herself.
All of that being said, I suppose I should give you all some information about me. I’m in my thirties, married since 2003, though my husband and I have been together since 1998. I have my BS in Biology and I’m also a Licensed Veterinary Technician. I have no kids, but I do currently have two sibling cats, Sam and Mia. I have been Pagan for all of my life, but it wasn’t until high school that I found out other people believed the same things I did. My mother’s family is Hindu, but I never completely connected with that religion. I just believed what I believed, which was that there was a Goddess and God and that They took on whatever forms They chose through whatever pantheon They chose. I also believe that animals and plants are our sisters and brothers and that just because we don’t speak the same language or interact with the world the same way, it doesn’t mean they don’t have souls or intelligence. Getting my Bachelor’s in Biology only supported those beliefs for me. Science and religion are NOT mutually exclusive, by the way, but that’s a topic I’ll save for a blog post! 😉
Now, onto the Wiccan part: In high school I discovered Wicca. It suited me well then and it suits me well now, especially as I have learned to make it my own. I have always felt that I believed in a nature-based spirituality, but when you say that to people, they really get glassy-eyed. ‘Wicca’ and ‘Wiccan’ have been fairly accurate ‘labels’ for me to put on myself to help others understand what I believe. For other Pagan/Wiccan/Druid people out there, I guess I’m mostly Wiccan with some extra Pagan thrown in? I really hate having to have a label at all, honestly. I believe what I believe. In my mind, I don’t really have a label. My religion is the Old Ways. It’s a deep reverence for nature and a belief in the interconnectedness of ALL things. I believe that the Divine manifests in whatever form is best for the specific person doing the worshiping. I believe in Balance, Karma, and the Elements. I believe in harming none.
With this blog, I hope to share my thoughts about my beliefs, get people thinking about things they might never have thought of before, and just have fun!
Blessed be. )O(
merry meet, i have nominated you for the Witchy Blog Award! i hav efound some really great blogs in my travels through wordpress’s pagan/wiccan/witch blogs tonight! my post on this will be up by morning. congrats! 🙂
Oh, wow, thank you so much! I’m glad you like my blog! 🙂
you’re welcome 🙂
Very beautifully written. I agree with all of it! LOL. I call myself “multifaith” and I am new to Wicca and Pagan. Thankfully, being multifaith, I can immerse myself in any religion or spiritual path I choose and learn as much as I can that makes me happy and brings me closer to nature and the Divine. I also follow my own path. And I absolutely agree about animals! They are our brothers and sisters; I simply adore animals. And I love trees too. All of nature. 🙂 Yes, people do tend to get that look where their eyes glaze over. Thank goodness for blogs! LOL
Thank you! I agree that being open to the Divine allows you to experience many different spiritual paths and I think it enhances your relationship. I’m so glad you like the blog. Thank you for following me! I’m so happy that I have this blog as an outlet and that people enjoy what I write about. 🙂
based on your description of your beliefs I must be a pagan too! i’m having fun exploring my spirituality .I’m glad I found your blog.
🙂 I’m glad you found my blog, too! I think everyone is on a spiritual journey and the more people we encounter with similar (and differing) beliefs, the more we learn! 🙂
Hi I’m Druid, but like you as a pagan believe in revering in nature in all her variegated forms. Looking foward to reading your posts.
Wonderful, thank you so much! 🙂
Hi there. Nice to meet you 🙂
Hello, nice to meet you, as well. 🙂
How long have you been blogging?
I think I have been blogging for a couple of years now. Definitely not more than three. 🙂
Good Morning. I just found your blog and I can hardly wait to dive in.
I am not sure what I would label myself other than ‘searching and pausing’. In the grand scheme of things I have so many labels put on my I strive to not let my spirituality be labeled as well.
I am reconnecting with the earth and listening to that which tugs at my soul not what other people tell me tugs at my soul.
I am truly looking forward to connecting with you through this beautiful world of blogging.
Blessings.
Merry meet and welcome to my blog. I’m so glad you found me. I understand well what you mean about labels and even though I have chosen one, I feel like it doesn’t completely explain everything, but it’s awfully close.
Bright blessings on your journey! 🙂
